Footwear of all types, from slippers to dress shoes to kinky boots! Socks, belts and galoshes as well. Comfortable benches on which to sit when trying the footwear, and said benches feature angled mirrors to see the footwear’s fit. Staff competent and parking plentiful in the lot out front. Often DSW has seasonal promotions.
It's been a frustrating experience for me due to difficulties finding wide, feminine looking shoes that are size 10 / 10.5, sometimes 11....

Very big store with a wide variety of shoes, from winter to summer and from casual to formal and sport. I found the shoes a little bit pricy, but overall good value
Great selection of shoes. All the employees I’ve encountered have been really polite and helpful. I always come here when I’m in the market for new shoes since there’s a 99% chance I’ll find exactly what I’m looking for. However, on the two occasions I’ve place an order to pick up at this store, I’ve had an issue. Once the shoes I was given were a UK 9 instead of a US 9 and most recently, I was given 2 left shoes. A little quality control goes a long way!
A hole just appeared in the toe of a shoe I bought from DSW a few months ago and have worn maybe five times. A manager at their Danbury CT store refused to replace the shoe or refund me, saying they guarantee their items for 60 days and the hole is "normal wear and tear."
Their selections are huge. Found the shoes I was looking for for a good price.
Lots of shoes, mostly good name brands but sometimes sizes are limited and it's a toss up whether the shoe you want is actually going to be a good price or nothing special. It is always worth stopping to check in to see if there is something that works for you.
edit: It's a few years later and yes, they've gotten better. The focus on having fewer random brands means a wider selection within one of the chosen brands and a deeper inventory so more sizes are readily available. This has become our first stop when we need shoes.
